On 10 April Dr. Valkan Ivanov and prof. Svilen Maslyankov, at the invitation of the Italian company DECOmed, took part in a specialized event of the formа́ta Live Surgical Observation, conducted at Kareji University Hospital (Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Careggi) in Florence, Italy.
Hosts of the event were Professor. Lorenzo Orzalezzi, Head of the Breast Surgery Clinic and Dr. Mathias Broji, head of the plastic surgery department. During the visit, the participants had the opportunity to observe live breast reconstruction surgical techniques using acellular dermal matrices Braxon и Braxon Fast, applied by established specialists in the field.
DECOmed is a manufacturer of organic sails Braxon, which are widely used in modern breast reconstructive surgery. Events Live Surgical Observations are organised in collaboration with centres specialising in the use of ADM biofilms and create a valuable opportunity to exchange practical experience, discuss clinical approaches and participate in a professional environment with a high level of expertise.
Monitored operations may include both one-moment reconstructions, both reconstructions with Braxon and expander, making this format particularly useful for plastic surgeons and breast surgery specialists seeking to apply modern and gentle solutions in reconstructive surgery.
The participation of Dr. Valkan Ivanov and prof. Svilen Maslyankov in this international event is another step towards the introduction and development of highly specialized standards in breast surgery in Bulgaria.
