The Board of the Association brings together established professionals and young specialists from university hospitals, MMA, private hospitals and cancer centers - with one common aspiration: to become better.

The idea for its creation dates back to 2024, during the preparation and planning of the National Conference on Breast Surgery with International Participation, Sofia (30.01-01.02.2025). The forum brought together almost all invasive specialists (surgeons, plastic surgeons, breast surgeons, gynecologists), intervisiting the breast, with the main aim of presenting the current level in our country and to seek modern and adequate treatment practiced abroad. The conference was a success, with over 300 participants, intensive practical courses, good coverage in the media and the presence of world renowned authorities. And with the motto of the event „Let's get better together!“
This laid a serious foundation for the unification of the profession, building a structure aimed at imposing modern standards and unifying the level in the Republic of Bulgaria. The decision was taken in the town of. Varna on 10 October 2025, in the town of. Varna, where the founding meeting of the organization was established. Co-founders are representatives of 4 metropolitan hospitals, two hospitals from Varna, university structures from Plovdiv, Pleven, Stara Zagora, representatives from Complex Oncology Centers in the cities of Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Blagoevgrad, from hospitals in Ruse and Panagyurishte. Prof. Yovcho Petkov Yovchev, prof. Prof. Rumen Nikolov Nenkov, prof. Prof. Tashko Stefanov Deliiski, Assoc. Martin Petrov Karamanliev, Assoc. Atanas Iliev Batashki, Dr. Valentin Valentinov Ivanov, Dr. Ivan Iliev Nikolov, Dr. Nikolay Veselinov Kiselkov, Dr. Ivelin Tsankov Yotsov, Dr. Regina Hassan Khater, Dr. Mariela Borisova Vassileva-Slaveva, Dr. Slavyana Slavcheva Usheva, Dr. Valkan Stoyanov Ivanov, Dr. Tsanko Ivelinov Yotsov, Dr. Theodor Velchev Velchev.
The association is made up of specialists from different hospital structures: university hospitals, MMA, private hospitals, Comprehensive Cancer Centers. The included specialists are at different stages of their careers: from people with established careers and knowledge, to young, ambitious, knowledgeable and capable guild members. It is no coincidence that in the statutes of the association, in addition to regular members, all specialists (Bulgarians and foreigners) with a special contribution to the field of breast surgery will be automatically admitted as honorary members. Any willing specialist related to breast diagnosis and treatment will be associated under the heading of associate members. With a single and important goal: to make us all better...
At the founding meeting the following composition of the Board of Directors with a term of office of 4 years was approved, which consists of five members. Dr. Martin Petrov Karamanliev, (Scientific Secretary); Dr. Slavyana Slavcheva Usheva, (Membership Secretary). The combination of established professionalism, youth, knowledge and enthusiasm promises the opportunity to lay a strong foundation and develop the Association of Breast Surgeons and achieve its societal goals.
